- · WP1: Project Initialization and Work Preparation
WP1 aims at initializing the project by forming the different committees (StC and SSC), assigning tasks, and elaborating agreements during the kick off meeting. It will also include preparing for the activities of the proceeding WPs.
WP1 is also aimed at defining the current knowledge and further needs of engineering students in the skills of the fields (IoT, CS, RE) with an emphasis on using these technologies in Jordan. The purpose is to find out the level of technical knowledge of the engineering students and to map possible competence gaps, and determine their interest and needs. This will help in the determination of the student potentials and profile for the IREEDER project, as well as highlighting the important issues to be included in the training and the best training methods.

• WP2: Development of Teaching Materials
This WP aims at the elaboration and integration of the training and teaching contents by analyzing the information and documents resulting from the previous activity and to plan strategic lines for organizational structures and didactics. WP2 is structured as follows:
o Definition of training objectives and teaching material general contents
o Analysis of existing teaching materials
o Update of existing teaching materials
Teaching material will include slides and/or multimedia content when applicable including practical worksheets based on the developed laboratories. Each topic (RE, IoT and CS) will have a separate teaching material.
• WP3: Capacity Building and Training of Trainers
The aim of WP3 is to develop a capacity building and staff development programme in the fields of IoT, CS, RE. The main focus of the activities will be on developing human resources and upgrading skills and capacities by providing exposure to practical training, experiments and equipment.
In this WP, three labs will be established in three Jordanian universities as follow:
o IoT laboratory will be established at AHU.
o CS laboratory will be established at TTU.
o RE laboratory will be established at MU.
Also, a server for a remote lab with virtual lab software will be installed at each university of the Jordanian partners. Each Jordanian partner will disseminate a tender (with the help of all partners and under the supervision of the coordinator) to announce the need to construct the required equipment to purchase and deliver the components of the laboratories. Upon purchasing the laboratories, equipment will be installed and tested.
Three different training workshops will be held at the EU partners for a selected staff from the Jordanian partners, as follows
o IoT training workshop that will be held at UCLAN.
o CS training workshop that will be held in UVIGO.
o RE training workshop that will be held in UPAT.
For each training workshop, 15 trainees from Jordanian partners will be selected (three from each Jordanian partner), according to pre-defined criteria. Each training course will last for five days. By the end of each workshop, trainees with the help of the trainers will deliver a report to the WP leader.
The training workshops will start from the general programme and methodology to specific examples of training initiatives that are organized and have proven success. A significant component of training will be related to technical aspects of scientific measurement and characterization of the fields of IoT, CS and RE. WP3 will include actual training on experiment and laboratory running, technical assistance and counselling services, which will be organized for academic staffs, researchers, students, engineers and technicians.
UPAT, which is leading WP3, along with other EU partners, will implement specific training as its participating laboratory has long-standing expertise and necessary infrastructure in those fields. Furthermore, the access to information, skills and training of Jordanian universities will enable their faculty and researchers to evaluate existing curricula and effectively redesign the courses to include state-of-the-art-technologies. This will also greatly assist in establishing training labs as local resources and training points in Jordan. Opportunities for training and study visits in WP3 will be provided by EU partners in the project. Delivery of training courses will be in traditional face-to-face format.
Jordanian staffs that have trained in Europe will organize three training workshops in Jordan as follows
o IoT training workshop at AHU.
o CS training workshop at TTU.
o RE training workshop at MU.
Staff from all Jordanian universities, students, engineers from Jordanian labour market, and all other stakeholders will be invited.
• WP4: Quality Assurance
A specific monitoring and evaluation system will be set up to provide constant and clear information about the effective implementation of an action to the management, allowing the optimization of resources and redirection of activities which can be affected by problems. A set of qualitative and quantitative indicators will be applied through monitoring instruments such as questionnaires, interview grids and check-lists. High attention will be paid to the involvement of all actors concerned, underlining the importance of the contribution of each partner involved.
The WP leader will form a quality monitoring committee from the involved EU partners. It will assist all deliverables and reports from all other WPs. It will also monitor the role of each partner and ensure its commitment to the project activities. The WP leader will deliver three annual monitoring reports to the project coordinators. Also, an external evaluator will be recruited to evaluate the progress of the project. The following requirements should be taken into consideration while selecting the external evaluator:
o A sufficient experience in the teaching and research of the IREEDER topics.
o A sufficient experience in managing EU projects.
o Ability to monitor all activates of IREEDER project including training workshops in Europe, and dissemination workshops in Jordan. In addition to assess the developed teaching materials, and the established laboratories in Jordan.
The external evaluator will elaborate two reports: the mid-term evaluation report and the final evaluation report.
• WP5: Exploitation of Results and Sustainability Plan
The subjects are expected to become autonomous after the community funding phase and bring on multiplier effects on education, economic and social development environment. The sustainability of the program can be figured out at different levels:
o The preliminary needs analysis.
o The structure of the subjects.
o Training activities.
o Access to labour market.
Moreover, sustainability is strictly linked to financial, institutional, social and environmental issues. A sustainability plan will be elaborated by IT, under the supervision of the SSC. The plan will set guidelines for orienting the implementation of all activities following a sustainability perspective. This WP will include establishing an e-learning module that provide an electronic access to all project results in order to widen the beneficiary of the project. Graduation project for the final-year students will be supervised by the involved staff from the Jordanian partners.
• WP6: Dissemination
The Jordanian market needs for skilled electrical engineers with a deep knowledge of the new technologies will be increased dramatically especially due to the worldwide trends in IoT, CS, and RE. Many activities will be organized, and stakeholders will be invited along with companies, ministries, and media. These activities, which will be the tool to spread the idea of this project, will consist of seminars, reports for distribution, website to diffuse IREEDR results, newsletters, flyers and posters which will be distributed to all stakeholders. Publicity brochures will be printed and distributed across the partner universities to attract students to the new subjects.
IREEDER will be disseminated in the workshops. Specifically, two main dissemination workshops will be held in MU (co-located with the fourth IREEDER plenary meeting) and PU (co-located with the final IREEDER plenary meeting). In addition to the project partners and associated partners, all Jordanian universities and interested companies will be invited to the workshops and are expected to adopt the project outcomes. After the end of the IREEDER project, yearly local dissemination workshops at each Jordanian partner will be held to publicise developments and encourage participation of students in the training activities that will take place in the established laboratories. Also, EU partners will disseminate the results of IREEDER in the local dissemination events held at their countries.
• WP7: Management
After the Project approval, all management and operational structure will be established and will work during the project’s life. The project will be managed in such a way that promotes a sense of ownership and motivation for each of the partners. AHU will be the project coordinator and responsible for the overall operation of the project and its smooth running, financial and administrative management including the preparation of budget and reports, timeliness and accomplishment.
To facilitate the work in the project, the following committees will be established: IREEDER Steering Committee (StC); IREEDER scientific and supervising committee (SSC) and IREEDER operational staff. The IREEDER StC will be composed by the project coordinator and focal point from each partner. It will deal with the overall management and decision-making process. The IREEDER SSC, composed by two representatives from each partner. IREEDER SSC will supervise scientific and technical activities, guaranteeing quality and sustainability of the project through the activities and outputs. All reports and deliverables will be discussed by
IREEDER SCC and StC. The meetings of StC and SSC will be co-located in order to reduce the overall expenses of the meetings. The project meeting will be scheduled as follow:
1. First plenary meeting (Kick-off meeting) will be held during the first (or the second) month of the project at AHU.
2. Second plenary meeting will be held in the sixth month of the first year at UNTN.
3. Third plenary meeting will be held in the first month of the second year at UCLAN.
4. The fourth plenary meeting will be held during the sixth month of the second year at UPAT.
5. The fifth plenary meeting will be held during the first month of the third year at MU.
6. The sixth plenary meeting will be held during the sixth month of the third year at IT.
7. The closure plenary meeting will be held during the last month of the third year at PU.
All plenary meetings will include StC, SSC meetings, while the fourth and closure meetings will be co-located with dissemination workshops.
The kick-off meeting will be held at AHU and during the first month after the approval of th project. Three representatives from each partner countries members will participate in 2 days, aimed at defining organisational and scientific strategies. Accountants will participate for training session about financial rules.
The operational management will be carried out by a project coordinator charged of guaranteeing the exchange among the partners and with the EU partners, a financial manager, a monitoring expert and the technical office (accountant, secretary, assistant). All project coordinator will be in charge of approving all deliverables and reported of all WPs.
